If Shaytan Is Chained, Why Are We Still Falling?

Shaytan is chained from the very first night of Ramadan.

Then why do we still waste time? Why do we still fall short of our targets?

Because this month is not just about fighting Shaytan. It is about training the nafs.

Allah says in the Qur’an that Ramadan was prescribed so that we may attain Taqwah (Qur’an 2:183).

Taqwah is not handed to us like a beautifully wrapped gift. When we ask Allah for something, He doesn’t simply place it in our hands. He gives us opportunities. He gives us tests. He makes us strive. He makes us depend on Him through our actions. And only then, by His mercy, we attain it.

So if Ramadan is the season of Taqwah… And if we truly intend to gain Taqwah…

THEN ALLAH WILL BRING US THE TESTS OF TAQWAH!

Those tests may not come as whispers of Shaytan. They may come as the demands of our own nafs.

Our laziness, attachment to comfort, our scrolling habits, our ego, our inclination to gossips, our love for praise, our hidden pride….

Ramadan exposes what controls each one of us!

When Shaytan is chained, what remains? Our nafs.

And Taqwah begins when we consciously work to break those unhealthy attachments, using these protected days where rewards are multiplied, turning back to Allah again and again, seeking forgiveness constantly, reconnecting with Him through His words, through the Qur’an, through sincere du’aa!

But if we keep yielding to our nafs… If we comfort ourselves with, “I recited a lot,” or “I prayed long Tarawih” while our character and discipline remain untouched…

Then the REAL LOSS IS NOT DURING THE RAMADAN!

It is in “who we become after Ramadan”

The worst transformation is when Ramadan increases our pride instead of our humility.

May Allah protect us from a Ramadan that changes our schedule but not our hearts. May He help us break our nafs before it breaks us. May He grant us true Taqwah. Ameen.
