Surah Ali Imran Ayah 4
When we, as human beings, are incapable of producing even something as simple and mysterious as the letters Alif, Lam, Meem, how can we ever question or deny the Book revealed by the Perfect Master Allah ﷻ?
Allah is the Only Ilah, Al-Ḥayy, Al-Qayyum, whose knowledge is flawless and whose wisdom is absolute. From Him came a Book that is truthful, precise, and timeless, revealed at the most appropriate moment in human history, over its deserving duration - not demanded by mankind, but gifted to them. A Book that clearly distinguishes truth from falsehood, guidance from misguidance, which helps any human being to transform to his best version.
So, when such a gift is knowingly rejected, what does one truly deserve other than ‘adhabun shadeed - a punishment that is severe, overwhelming, and unending?
This punishment has no release, because when we think about hidayah, it was never withheld. Allah ﷻ never ceased to send guidance - through revelation, through signs, through reminders, through the Qur’an, again and again. Yet rejection persisted.
Thus, severity of punishment for such people manifests in every aspect of existence, as found in different verses in Qur’an - in food and drink, in heat and cold, in skin and clothing, in beds and shelter in everything they are connected to. And why? Because Allah’s verses whether Shar‘iyy (revealed signs) or Kawniyy (signs within creation) were evident all around them, throughout their lives and in everything that's related to their lives. Still, they chose denial.
Here lies the terrifying reminder: Allah is Al-‘Aziz, the Almighty, and He takes severe retribution.
Each time an ayah reaches us, we must pause and reflect: How insignificant we truly are, How mighty Allah truly is, And how complete our surrender to His words and commands must be.
There is NO way to deny - not for ignorance, not for arrogance, and not for excuses.
